Job summary

Jones Bros Ltd in Exeter is seeking an Engineer to join our site-based team on major UK construction projects, starting at Berwick Bank in Exeter. The role is site-based and reports to the Project Manager, supporting civil engineering delivery with a practical, problem-solving approach.

You’ll travel with overnight stays and enjoy lodge allowances for working away from home, with opportunities to advance within a growing business by mentoring apprentices and delivering impactful schemes.

Qualifications

• Degree or HND in Civil Engineering.
• 4–5 years' site experience in roads, drainage, earthworks and reinforced concrete.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Carry out surveying, setting out, and volume checks in a timely manner and in accordance with specifications.
• Interpolate GI data, designs, and specifications to produce accurate quantities and earthworks phasing 3D models.
• Manage machine control setup and operation, including 3D modelling and on-site accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with testing frequencies based on actual earthwork volumes and communicate with QA and project management teams.
• Monitor earthworks progress, reporting weekly volumes to senior management.
• Interpret drawings and specifications to ensure construction meets client requirements.
• Prepare and submit weekly progress reports for review and contribute to financial CVRs and forecasts.
