Job summary

Leonardo UK, based at one of our UK sites, seeks a Senior Application Engineer to deliver, maintain, and improve platform and systems engineering solutions underpinning critical defence and public services.

You will configure SIEM/EDR tooling, work within an agile team, mentor engineers, and ensure secure-by-design practices across deployment lifecycles, with a hybrid model combining home and onsite collaboration.

Qualifications

• Experience with SIEM/EDR/vulnerability management tools.
• Understanding of secure software development lifecycle and risk assessment.
• Ability to translate security controls into engineering requirements.
• Strong communication across engineering, SOC and service management teams.
• Active involvement in automation and knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

• Support, configure, and enhance security tooling platforms (e.g. SIEM, EDR) to underpin threat detection and response.
• Deliver engineering tasks within defined work packages, ensuring alignment with user needs and security requirements.
• Contribute to application architecture, integration, and lifecycle activities under guidance of senior engineers.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, service management, and business teams to resolve issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices.
• Participate in continuous improvement, including automation and documentation.
