Leeds Sexual Health, part of the NHS, seeks a dedicated nurse to support a busy service providing care in sexual health. The role requires qualifications in sexual health and the ability to work flexibly across various clinics. Candidates must be skilled in triaging and counselling while offering high standards of care to both young and vulnerable patients.
Leeds Sexual Health is a busy and dynamic service offering a wide range of services such as STI testing & treatments, contraception advice & provision, pregnancy testing and support, care after sexual assault, vaccinations, and care to vulnerable and high-risk groups. Our service users attend with various sexual health and contraceptive needs, requiring care, comprehensive assessment, and treatment by our multidisciplinary team.
The post holder will hold, or be working towards, qualifications in both sexual health and contraception such as DFSRH diploma and STIF intermediate, with the addition of LoC SDI implant removal, fits, refits, non-medical prescribing, and microscopy skills.
Leeds Sexual Health operates from clinics 6 days a week, Monday to Saturday, between 8 am to 8 pm, with opportunities to support outreach events outside of working hours. You will be required to be flexible and to cover clinics across Leeds. Our main hub is based at Beeston Hill Health Centre, with spoke sites at Armley, Chapeltown, City Centre, & Seacroft, along with other outreach sites across Leeds.
The post holder must be able to move across sites and travel independently during shifts to cover clinics and provide care to vulnerable and hard-to-reach service users. We have dedicated clinics for under 18 young persons across the city where you will assess safeguarding risks and support care needs.
Leeds Sexual Health is an integrated service, and our partners include Leeds Teaching Hospital, GP Confed, and Central Forum.
The role involves supporting colleagues, junior staff, nursing and medical trainees. You will also support as a nurse co-ordinator in the smooth running of clinics and triage emergency and urgent care on the day.
The post-holder is responsible for providing high standards of clinical nursing expertise to service users in the field of SRH/GUM across Leeds, offering information, advice, and counselling to help patients diagnosed with STIs understand and manage their conditions.
