About the role

We are looking for an experienced business support person to join our friendly and supportive team as a Senior Service Support Officer providing support to the Heads of Service in Adult Care Operations. You will be working alongside another colleague to provide this support in partnership with them.

What you can expect to be doing:

  • No day is the same in this role, you will be involved in a wide range of activities when supporting our services and this includes planning ahead for upcoming events and commitments.
  • You will be required to build lasting professional relationships, work collaboratively with others both inside and outside of the Council and provide a high level of customer service at all times.
  • You will be providing support for diary and email management to the Heads of Service to allow them to work efficiently and prioritise their work.
  • You will have the opportunity to design and implement effective ways of working and develop these further with the team.
  • Although not frequently, you may be asked to take notes at meetings in a number of different settings and training will be provided.
  • You will be expected to handle sensitive and confidential information in a trusted and professional way, in accordance with the Council's policies and procedures.

Further Information

This is a full time role at 37 hours per week and is a fixed term position for 6 months.

This role does not have a significant travel requirement, however you may occasionally be asked to provide support and attend some events away from the centre of duty. Therefore, occasional access to a vehicle, or to be prepared to use public transport or the willingness to travel with Dorset Council colleagues may be necessary.

The ability to communicate effectively in a professional, appropriate and concise manner both orally and in writing is essential for this post.

This post is a six months contract initially, with potential for extending. It is also subject to the standard probationary period.
