Job summary

Westmorland and Furness Council is seeking a Senior SEND Officer to support the SEND Team Manager, leading a group of SEND officers and ensuring high-quality EHCPs and statutory processes. The role focuses on complex casework, tribunals, and collaboration with schools to secure appropriate provision for children and young people with SEND.

The position is permanent, with location options Kendal, Barrow, or Penrith, and a salary in the listed range.

Qualifications

• Experience in SEND and EHCP processes may be advantageous.
• Ability to lead a team and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the SEND Team Manager to oversee the work of SEND officers.
• Ensure EHCPs are high-quality and provide effective support.
• Deliver statutory SEND processes, including EHC Needs Assessments,Annual Reviews and phase transfers.
• Lead on complex casework, including Tribunals and mediation.
• Participate in statutory decision-making and resource allocation panels.
• Collaborate with schools and education providers to ensure suitable provision.
