Job summary

Oxfordshire County Council is seeking a Senior SEN Officer (Tribunals) based in Oxford for a permanent 37-hour week. The role leads SENDIST tribunal casework for the local authority, working with schools, families, partner agencies and council teams to make legally compliant decisions and provide support.

The post involves managing tribunal cases, preparing cases, attending Way Forward and pre-Tribunal meetings, and representing the council at hearings when required.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and Tribunal processes.
• Experience managing SENDIST cases and representing a local authority at Tribunal hearings.
• Ability to manage complex casework and communicate with families and agencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead allocated SENDIST tribunal cases from preparation through hearing.
• Ensure submissions follow Tribunal rules and meet legal deadlines.
• Attend Way Forward, mediation and pre-Tribunal meetings as required.
• Represent the local authority at hearings when required.
• Communicate statutory updates to staff and train on SEND Code of Practice.
