Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking a talented Systems Engineer to join the Security Rules team in London or Lisbon. You will work on microservices written primarily in Rust, with technologies including Docker, Go, PostgreSQL, Redis, Memcached, gRPC, Kafka, Clickhouse and Unix/Linux tools.

You’ll design scalable security solutions and operate in a fast-paced environment. You’ll collaborate across security, network engineering, SRE and product teams, mentor peers, and participate in all phases of the software

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional engineering experience at a technology company.
• Strong programming skills in Rust, Go, C++, or a similar systems-level language.
• Experience building and operating distributed systems.
• Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, Clickhouse and Memcached).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating empathy, teamwork and ownership.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain software systems for Cloudflare’s security product offerings.
• Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle: design, code, tests, deployment.
• Collaborate with security, network engineering, SRE, and product teams to design scalable solutions.
• Review peers’ work to ensure high-quality, maintainable code.
• Mentor team members and coordinate with support teams to ensure customer delight.
• Debug complex systems and improve operational health and resilience.
• Work with Rust, Go and various databases, Docker, and Kubernetes.
