Job summary

Staffordshire County Council is seeking a proactive Security & Protection Specialist to lead security management across council premises, public meetings and high‑profile events. The role focuses on implementing Martyn’s Law, advising service areas, and improving security culture across the organisation.

You will assess risk, oversee investigations, and collaborate with emergency services, property teams and elected members to ensure robust protection for staff and communities.

Qualifications

  • Experience in security risk management, policing, protective services or event/crowd safety environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead, advise and drive improvements for safety and protection.
  • Knowledge of terrorism protection measures and practical security controls.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate security management across council premises and events.
  • Plan and oversee security at public meetings and manage risk assessments.
  • Lead on Martyn’s Law implementation and advise service areas.
  • Oversee recording and investigation of security incidents.
  • Advise on physical and procedural security controls.
  • Monitor performance of security providers.
  • Maintain relationships with police and emergency services.
  • Drive continuous security improvement.
