Job summary

Staffordshire County Council is seeking a passionate health, safety and wellbeing professional to lead a team and shape services that protect staff and communities across Staffordshire and beyond. You will provide expert advice to senior managers, develop and implement policies, manage relationships with partners such as NHS and HSE, and drive learning and development to maintain high standards.

Qualifications

• Degree-level education and NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
• Chartered IOSH membership or equivalent professional registration.
• Experience leading professional advisors and managing complex transformation projects.
• Extensive networks with NHS, Local Resilience Forum, UKHSA, DHSC, DFE, HSE and other enforcement bodies.
• Effective, values-led leadership; confident communicator with stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, changing environments including emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Health and Safety Advisers to deliver a customer-focused, modern, and professional service.
• Provide expert, professional, and ethical health, safety, and wellbeing advice to senior managers and leadership teams, supporting improvement plans.
• Develop and implement health, safety, and wellbeing policies, procedures, and tools for compliance and objectives.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to enable information sharing and risk management.
• Identify, develop and deliver learning and development opportunities on health, safety, and wellbeing topics.
• Oversee operational management of health, safety & wellbeing service within Children & Families, Health and Care and Entrust, ensuring service quality and growth.
