Job summary

Medtronic, a global leader in healthcare technology, is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test in London. You will design and implement automated test frameworks for embedded device software, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive quality through CI/CD in a mission to improve patient outcomes.

The role requires hands-on testing of Android/Linux devices, OTA updates, and firmware validation, with 3–4 days onsite in the London office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in software automation and test development.
• Proficiency in test automation development (Python/Java).
• Hands-on with test management tools and frameworks (Selenium, Appium, Espresso).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
• Device operating systems (Android, Linux).
• SOA, APIs (REST, IPC).
• Hands-on testing of embedded or connected devices.
• Understanding hardware‑software interaction; debugging logs.
• Firmware validation, board bring-up testing; OTA updates.
• Self-starter, autonomous; able to lead initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and tools for device software, focusing on scalable, reusable solutions.
• Collaborate with software engineers to define test scenarios, testable architectures, and drive quality through code.
• Develop, implement and execute advanced test automation strategies for embedded, edge, and device-integrated systems (Android AOSP, Linux-based edge devices, IoT gateways).
• Analyse requirements and develop comprehensive test plans for REST APIs, IPC, WebUI, and OTA updates.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines with automated quality gates.
• Generate and maintain technical documentation, standards, and best practices for test, automation and quality engineering.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and systems engineers to validate device performance, connectivity, and stability under real-world operating conditions.
