Job description

Epsilogen is seeking an outstanding individual with protein biochemistry expertise to join the company at an exciting time in its development. The appointment will be at the senior scientist level and, if successful, you will be part of a dynamic and innovative drug discovery team. This role requires accurate and precise experimental design and execution in the areas of therapeutic antibody discovery/characterization and antibody pre-clinical development. The role will be based at laboratory facilities in West London.

To succeed, you will have a deep understanding of drug discovery and pre-clinical development gained from a combination of academia and the biotech/pharma industry experience. Ideally, you will have a PhD qualification as well as at least 4 years’ relevant post-doctoral experience. You must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently. You will demonstrate acute attention to detail and be fully familiar with current best laboratory practice.

Epsilogen is run by a dedicated group of professionals with substantial multi-decade experience in the biotechnology industry across all relevant fields including therapeutic antibody discovery and engineering, cellular immunology, preclinical development, manufacturing, intellectual property creation and prosecution, clinical development, financing, and business development. The company is a pioneer within the burgeoning field of immuno-oncology, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to the innovation of all aspects of the company’s pipeline and platforms. Importantly, you will also benefit from exposure to the broader activities of the company.

Key Responsibilities

You will undertake laboratory work aimed at supporting product discovery and platform development projects towards the establishment of candidates for formal pre-clinical development. You will provide regular updates and reports to management.

Person Specification
  • A proven track record of practical achievement in drug discovery and pre-clinical development, preferably associated with the development of therapeutic antibodies.
  • You should have a PhD in biological/biochemical science, or equivalent experience, preferably across academia and the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry.
Knowledge/Skills
  • Understanding of the biologic/pharmaceutical product discovery and pre-clinical development process.
  • Possession of a wide range of technical skills, including molecular biology, construct design, protein expression from bacterial and mammalian host cells, mammalian tissue culture, protein purification using an Akta, and characterization (affinity determination, specificity determination, cell binding, thermodynamic characterization, etc.).
  • Extensive experience using an Octet and a mammalian cell bioreactor are highly desirable.
  • You must be professional, dedicated, and detail-oriented.
  • Able to collaborate across the company.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Able to work independently and you will be highly organized.
  • Must be able to influence and motivate people and teams.
