Job summary

Avantor is seeking a Senior Scientist – Diagnostic Laboratory Sciences in Cambridge to lead and oversee regulated diagnostic development programs. You will drive assay development, validation and digital pathology integration within a CAP/CLIA environment, ensuring data integrity and quality across histology, IHC and related workflows.

Qualifications

• BSc degree in Biomedical Science, Pathology, Molecular Biology or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in diagnostic histopathology and/or IHC.
• Experience in regulated labs (CAP/CLIA, ISO15189, HTA or GCP).
• Experience using LIMS and managing laboratory data.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific leadership and day-to-day oversight of laboratory activities.
• Lead assay development, optimisation, verification and validation.
• Act as Project Lead for design control and assay validation programmes.
• Design and execute studies to establish performance characteristics (sensitivity, specificity, precision).
• Analyse data using statistics and DOE.
• Manage tissue sample preparation and microtomy workflows.
• Operate and troubleshoot histology/IHC platforms (Ventana, Leica, Dako).
• Support digital pathology workflows and regulatory compliance.
