Job summary

The Ellison Institute, LLC is seeking a Senior Scientist in AMR genomics to join the Pathogen Program. This predominantly desk-based role collaborates across teams to curate AMR data, develop rules for predicting antimicrobial phenotype from genotype, and support genome and AST datasets in a fast-paced research environment.

You will work with ML models on antimicrobial prediction, liaise with stakeholders across disciplines, and contribute to publications and open datasets.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field with post-doctoral experience.
• Significant AMR genomics research experience.
• Experience interpreting bacterial genome data.
• Strong data analysis with R.
• Excellent record-keeping and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert input on antimicrobials and AMR research.
• Develop rules to predict antimicrobial phenotype from genotype.
• Curate AMR loci catalogs, such as AMRFinderPlus outputs.
• Contribute to design and quality assurance of antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
• Review MIC and WGS data to identify anomalies or areas for further testing.
• Collaborate with ML teams on AMR prediction from genotype.
• Contribute to datasets for identification of AMR genes from metagenomic data.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders involved in AMR activities.
