Job summary

Brookfield Community School is seeking a Senior Science Technician to support high-quality science education. You will assist in laboratories and classrooms, ensuring practical lessons are well-prepared, safe and efficient.

The role requires an organised, proactive individual with a passion for science education. Working closely with the Head of Science and teaching staff, you will prepare materials, maintain equipment and support teachers across Key Stages, ensuring resources meet curriculum

Qualifications

• Experience working in a school laboratory or similar environment.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Good understanding of laboratory health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with science teachers to support teaching and learning across Key Stages.
• Prepare, set up and clear away equipment, chemicals and materials for practical lessons.
• Ensure laboratories, prep rooms and classrooms are safe, organised and well-maintained.
• Oversee stock control, ordering and storage of equipment and resources.
• Maintain accurate records, including health and safety documentation.
• Support development of practical activities, including testing and preparing experiments.
• Lead on health and safety requirements (e.g. COSHH, CLEAPSS guidance).
• Provide guidance and support to other technicians where appropriate.
• Liaise with science staff to ensure resources meet curriculum needs.
