Job summary

The Glasgow Academy is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Health and Wellbeing Centre in Glasgow. You will work with the School Nurses to provide a clinically effective, high-quality nursing service for pupils, staff and visitors during the school term.

The role includes day-to-day care, first aid, chronic illness management, and coordination with pastoral and external teams. Salary is £38,714 per year for a full-time, term-time contract with maternity cover starting around

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
• Experience in school health/wellbeing setting preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day care for pupils and staff
• Caring for sick or injured individuals and administering first aid or medications as necessary
• Coordinate with the Senior School Pastoral Team to support pupil wellbeing
• Manage pupils with chronic illnesses and develop pupil-specific care plans in agreement with parents and support agencies
• Liaise with the School's Child Protection co-ordinator
• Facilitate visits by NHS immunisation teams
• Order and distribute medical supplies for use in the Health and Wellbeing Centre
• Maintain medical records and record visits electronically
• Visit satellite Prep schools to provide advice and support
• Attend GIRFEC meetings with the Deputy Head (Pastoral)

POSITION TYPE: full time, term time

HOURS: 33½ hours per week

We are looking to recruit an experienced Registered Nurse to join our busy Health and Wellbeing Centre to work alongside the current School Nurses. The candidate will offer a clinically effective, high-quality nursing service and be responsible for the health and welfare of children, staff and visitors at The Glasgow Academy.

Responsibilities Will Include

• Providing day-to-day care for pupils and staff
• Caring for sick or injured children and staff and administering first aid / medications as necessary, or referring on to hospital or GP
• Work with the Senior School Pastoral Team to support pupil wellbeing
• Managing pupils with chronic illnesses including the development of pupil-specific care plans in agreement with parents and support agencies where appropriate
• Liaising with the School's Child Protection co-ordinator
• Helping to facilitate visits by the NHS immunisation team
• Ordering and distribution of medical supplies for use in the Health and Wellbeing Centre
• Maintenance of first aid boxes / kits and emergency equipment throughout the school including the sports grounds and satellite Prep schools
• Maintaining medical records of pupils in collaboration with the Database Administrator and recording medical centre visits electronically
• Visiting satellite Prep schools to provide advice and support
• Attending a GIRFEC meeting with the Deputy Head (Pastoral)

The successful candidate will be required to work during the school term and immediately before and / or after this as directed by the Rector and attend INSET days through the year.
