Job summary

The Glasgow Academy is seeking an experienced Senior School Nurse to join its Health and Wellbeing Centre. The role involves ensuring high-quality nursing care for pupils, staff and visitors, and supporting wellbeing across the school during term time.

The successful candidate will provide day-to-day care, manage chronic illness plans with parents and liaise with external health services as needed. This is a maternity cover position with 33.5 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Experienced Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.

Senior School Nurse

LOCATION: The Glasgow Academy, G12 8HE

SALARY: £38,714 per year

CONTRACT TYPE: Maternity cover – start approx. 8th Jan 27

POSITION TYPE: full time, term time

HOURS: 33½ hours per week

We are looking to recruit an experienced Registered Nurse to join our busy Health and Wellbeing Centre to work alongside the current School Nurses. The candidate will offer a clinically effective, high-quality nursing service and be responsible for the health and welfare of children, staff and visitors at The Glasgow Academy.

Responsibilities will include:

• Providing day-to-day care for pupils and staff
• Caring for sick or injured children and staff and administering first aid / medications as necessary, or referring on to hospital or GP
• Work with the Senior School Pastoral Team to support pupil wellbeing
• Managing pupils with chronic illnesses including the development of pupil-specific care plans in agreement with parents and support agencies where appropriate
• Liaising with the School's Child Protection co-ordinator
• Helping to facilitate visits by the NHS immunisation team
• Ordering and distribution of medical supplies for use in the Health and Wellbeing Centre
• Maintenance of first aid boxes / kits and emergency equipment throughout the school including the sports grounds and satellite Prep schools
• Maintaining medical records of pupils in collaboration with the Database Administrator and recording medical centre visits electronically
• Visiting satellite Prep schools to provide advice and support
• Attending a GIRFEC meeting with the Deputy Head (Pastoral)

The successful candidate will be required to work during the school term and immediately before and / or after this as directed by the Rector and attend INSET days through the year.
