Job summary

Educators in Wrexham is seeking a Secondary and Sixth Form School Improvement Officer to drive sustained improvement across 0-19 learners, working with headteachers, senior leaders, governors, and national partners. You will lead improvement across secondary and post-16 settings, provide professional dialogue, support self-evaluation and improvement planning, and drive data-informed decisions to raise standards.

An enhanced DBS is required. Flexible hours (part-time or full-time) by agreement.

Qualifications

  • Has successful senior leadership experience (e.g. Headteacher, Deputy Head, or equivalent)
  • Has a proven track record of improving school outcomes
  • Demonstrates deep knowledge of school improvement, curriculum, and assessment practices
  • Is skilled in data analysis, evaluation, and quality assurance
  • Can influence, challenge, and inspire leaders at all levels
  • Is committed to equity, inclusion, and high aspirations for all learners
  • Builds strong, trusting relationships across partnerships and stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support school improvement across secondary and post-16 settings
  • Provide robust professional dialogue, guidance and support to school leaders
  • Support schools to deliver effective self-evaluation and improvement planning
  • Drive data-informed decision making to raise standards and reduce variability
  • Strengthen leadership at all levels, including coaching and mentoring senior staff
  • Ensure schools are inspection-ready and respond effectively to feedback
  • Lead key priority areas such as literacy, numeracy, science, or digital competence
  • Build strong partnerships across schools, the Local Authority, Estyn, and Welsh Government
