Job summary

RTX seeks a safety and environmental specialist to develop and maintain safety cases and environmental plans for defence projects. You will contribute to hazard analyses, risk assessment, and safety case artifacts across the engineering lifecycle at a high-security site.

You will work with multi-disciplinary teams under Def Stan guidance, ensuring regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction while supporting bids and design reviews at RTX sites in the UK.

Qualifications

• System safety and environmental experience in defence.
• Experience with Def Stan 00-056/55/051 or equivalent standards.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and processes.
• Track record in producing safety and environmental cases acceptable to customers/regulators.
• Appreciation of safety standards and design/implementation techniques.
• Good understanding of the engineering lifecycle.
• Commercial awareness.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain Safety and Environmental Management Plans.
• Support Hazard Identification and Hazard Analyses.
• Support Environmental Impact Screening and Scoping.
• Develop Hazard Logs and Environmental Feature Matrices.
• Prepare and maintain Safety and Environmental Cases.
• Develop artefacts to support Safety and Environmental Cases.
• Provide safety and environmental input to project and design reviews.
• Provide safety and environmental assurance, including auditing.
• Manage safety and environmental activities by other organisations and inspections.
• Support bid and proposal activities with safety/environment estimates.
• Support Safety and Environmental Committees.
