Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Safety Case Engineer to join the Energy Unit, Nuclear, Defence and Civil division. The role covers safety case production, design change submissions, decommissioning, and regulatory interface across nuclear projects, including naval and civil programmes.

The ideal candidate has a science/engineering degree, nuclear/defence experience, Chartered status or working towards, and will mentor junior staff while delivering high-integrity safety deliverables.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in a Science, Technology or Engineering discipline.
• Experience in the nuclear or defence industries preferred.
• Chartered Engineer or working towards is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety case production activities for nuclear projects.
• Contribute to modification/design change submissions and regulatory interfaces.
• Support decommissioning and life extension activities as required.
• Perform functional, deterministic and probabilistic safety assessments.
• Engage with regulators and ensure ALARP compliance.
• Mentor junior staff and develop safety case deliverables.
• Achieve successful delivery of nuclear safety deliverables on complex projects.
