Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Safety Case Engineer to join the Energy Unit, focusing on nuclear power generation and the naval nuclear programme. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on critical safety projects in a dynamic and growing team.

The successful candidate will be degree qualified in a Science, Technology, or Engineering discipline and will possess significant experience in the nuclear or defence industries. This permanent role is full-time and based in Southampton among other locations.

Overview of the Role

We – the Energy Unit, specifically the Nuclear; Defence and Civil division are looking to recruit a Senior Safety Case Engineer to join our team. The role will cover a number of areas including nuclear power generation, the naval nuclear programme and decommissioning. • Modification/ Design Change Submissions (LC/AC 22)

• Deterministic Safety Assessment
• Probabilistic Safety Assessment
• Nuclear Safety Legislation, Regulation and Policy
• Engineering Substantiation
• HAZOP and other identification studies

Candidate Specification

• Degree qualified in a Science, Technology or Engineering discipline
• Experience in the nuclear or defence industries (although applicants from other high‑hazard / regulated industries will be considered)
• Chartered Engineer or working towards
• Ability to demonstrate successful delivery of nuclear safety deliverables and strategy on complex projects
• Willing to develop and mentor more junior members of staff
• Candidates must be eligible to apply for and obtain Security Clearance
