La Fosse is partnering with a prestigious national charity and professional body to appoint an experienced Senior Safeguarding Consultant to lead the development and implementation of a modern, proportionate and sustainable safeguarding framework.
The organisation operates across a diverse range of activities, including education, research, professional development, public events and international partnerships.
Following a recent internal review, the organisation has identified opportunities to strengthen how safeguarding is embedded across its operations, particularly around governance, training, programme delivery, third-party assurance and international activity.
This is not a traditional operational safeguarding role. We are looking for someone who can combine deep safeguarding expertise with the ability to design, implement and embed organisational improvements, leaving behind a framework that can be managed effectively in-house.
Lead an initial discovery phase, reviewing existing safeguarding arrangements, identifying gaps and developing a prioritised implementation roadmap.
Review and strengthen safeguarding policies, procedures, governance and escalation processes in line with regulatory and Charity Commission requirements.
Embed safeguarding considerations into programme delivery, events, risk assessments and third-party partnerships.
Develop proportionate safeguarding arrangements for international activities and external partners.
Establish effective reporting, assurance and case management processes, providing clear visibility of safeguarding risks to senior leadership and trustees.
Design and support the delivery of safeguarding training, alongside establishing an internal network of safeguarding champions.
Work closely with senior stakeholders to drive organisational engagement, accountability and continuous improvement.
Transition the safeguarding framework into business as usual, providing ongoing specialist advice on a fractional basis.
Significant experience in a senior safeguarding leadership, advisory or consultancy capacity.
Proven track record of reviewing, designing and implementing organisation-wide safeguarding frameworks.
Strong understanding of Charity Commission safeguarding expectations, regulatory requirements and serious incident reporting.
Experience working within complex organisations, ideally charities, not-for-profits, professional bodies, higher education or international NGOs.
Experience of safeguarding across a broad range of stakeholders, including staff, volunteers, beneficiaries, young people and external partners.
Knowledge of international safeguarding considerations and third-party assurance.
Confidence engaging with senior executives, Boards and trustees, providing clear advice and constructive challenge.
Demonstrable experience embedding safeguarding into organisational processes, governance and culture, rather than focusing solely on operational case management.
Experience building internal capability and transitioning responsibilities to permanent teams.
