Job summary

FRESH. in London is seeking a Senior Ruby on Rails Developer to bolster the backend of its real-time Passenger Assistance platform. The role is hybrid, based in London with a mix of remote and office work, and focuses on scaling onboarding, reducing backend bottlenecks, and delivering robust RESTful services.

You will own technical direction, design scalable Rails components, and mentor engineers while collaborating with a cross-functional product squad to push features from idea to production.

Qualifications

• Commercial experience with Ruby on Rails in production environments.
• Solid understanding of Rails monolith architecture and full-stack troubleshooting.
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, Redis and Sidekiq.
• Comfortable working with AWS infrastructure and Docker.

Responsibilities

• Own technical direction and architecture decisions within the Rails application.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs.
• Optimize background job processing using Sidekiq.
• Help improve onboarding scalability and reduce backend delivery bottlenecks.
• Identify technical risks early and balance trade-offs between speed, quality, and scope.
• Collaborate within a cross-functional product squad.
• Support and mentor engineers through technical leadership and problem-solving.
