    Job overview

    We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Radiographer to join our friendly and supportive Radiology team at Wycombe General Hospital, High Wycombe. You will join our team of Senior Radiographers where we will provide opportunities for you to develop your career. We offer a great working environment, investing in training and new equipment with new DR, CT, MRI and Gamma Camera all being installed over the next 12 months, but our greatest asset is our highly skilled, patient-focused and friendly team. This post is rotational which will include CT, MRI, Minor Intervention, Nuclear Medicine, Cardiac, General and Theatres as required.

    This post will be based at Wycombe Hospital but the successful applicant may work cross-site as required. There is a requirement to participate in the out of hours service which includes weekend work and night shifts.

    Main duties of the job
    1. Vet and accept imaging requests and advise medical officers of the appropriateness of requests.
    2. Undertake intravenous injection of contrast media by hand or by high pressure injector (over 16 years old) in line with the injection policy.
    3. Undertake equipment quality assurance in line with QA programme and take appropriate action.
    4. Interpret images sufficiently to discuss with a Consultant Radiologist further sequences within agreed protocols. In absence of Radiologist use experience and judgement of previous cases to take further images to demonstrate an area of abnormality.
    5. Monitor and clinically assess student radiographers.
    6. Staff development and training.
    7. Participate in and undertake Audit and research projects.
    8. Assist with development of procedures and protocols.

    EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
    1. Degree or equivalent in Radiography.
    2. Evidence of CPD and attendance at relevant short courses.
    3. Certificate in IV Injections.
    4. HPC Registration.
    5. Post Graduate Certificate.
    EXPERIENCE
    1. Experience of Quality Assurance or up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety and Risk Assessment issues.
    2. Supervision and training of junior colleagues.
    3. 2-3 years experience in radiography including out of hours work.
    4. Plus 1 year MRI experience and CT scanning.
    SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
    1. Participation in Out of Hours rota.
    2. Travel to other sites if required.
