Job summary

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join a neuro-rehabilitation rotation. The post holder will rotate between four specialist services, each rotation lasting 18 months, working with patients with stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, MS, MND, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson's disease and other neuro conditions.

Qualifications

• Postgrad experience working with neurological impairment
• Understanding of the rehabilitation process
• Ability to work in inpatient and community settings
• Car and valid UK driving licence essential
• Work as part of a skilled multidisciplinary team
• Supervision from Band 7 OTs and support from senior therapy colleagues

Responsibilities

• Work as part of multi-professional neuro rehab teams, collaborating with acute rehabilitation units, community rehab teams, inpatient wards and rapid response services
• Manage caseload of clients within the community or ward setting and oversee caseload for rehabilitation assistants
• Undertake assessment and treatment of clients with complex or chronic presentations requiring specialist skills and multidisciplinary interventions
• Plan and implement comprehensive rehabilitation programmes for patients requiring intensive rehab in hospital, clinic or community settings
• Manage and organise the team's caseload when the team leader is absent, including MDT attendance and scheduling
• Carry out profession-specific and general multidisciplinary rehabilitation procedures requiring specialist skills
• Supervise junior staff, rehabilitation assistants and students on clinical placement
• Engage in CPD and contribute to team developments on a routine basis
