We are currently seeking a Senior Risk Manager for the Sizewell C nuclear new build project.
Role Details
This is a contract position expected to run through December, with potential for long-term engagement. The role is inside IR35 and based in London, requiring three days per week onsite and two days remote. Site visits to Suffolk are scheduled bi-monthly.
Principal Accountabilities
- Support and deputise for the functional Project Controls Risk Leads within the Project Management Office (PMO), while leading risk management within one of the SZC capital delivery programmes.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining Integrated Project Controls (Risk) processes.
- Represent the Risk Functional Lead in key project meetings such as Executive Risk Review meetings and weekly controls meetings.
- Help establish and maintain project controls systems, tools, and work instructions, ensuring proper flow of risk requirements.
- Coordinate risk activities including EAC updates, ERR preparation, and development of Integrated-QRA.
- Support progress reporting efforts, including risk dashboards, forecast updates, variance analysis, and process improvements.
- Ensure effective assurance processes are in place within the delivery programme.
- Promote SZC as a sector exemplar in risk management through knowledge sharing, networking, and sector presentations.

Knowledge & Skills
- Strong leadership, motivational, delegation, and team management skills, capable of leading a team of approximately five risk professionals.
- Excellent engagement skills to work with diverse teams across delivery lifecycle and supply chain.
- Ability to extract insights from risk and project controls processes and communicate effectively at all levels.
- Proficient facilitation skills for complex workshops.
- Technical expertise in delivering large QRAs (Cost, Schedule, Integrated) and enterprise risk management.
- Understanding of project and construction processes and mitigation strategies.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in project management and broader project controls.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Extensive relevant sector experience, including client, contractor, consultancy, or government sectors.
- Experience with major projects and corporate risk management.
Desirable
- Experience working with assurance teams such as Independent Technical Assessors.
- Understanding of building confidence across assurance professionals and driving risk improvements.
- Relevant risk management or technical qualifications in capital-intensive sectors.
