Job summary

Stephenson Harwood is seeking a qualified solicitor with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience to join its Legal & Regulatory Risk team in London. You will deal with risk and compliance queries, draft and negotiate commercial contracts, and contribute to firm-wide governance around regulatory regimes.

The role offers hybrid working patterns and the opportunity for early involvement in risk projects within an international law firm.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience.
• Proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Strong working knowledge of statutory and regulatory regimes including the UK GDPR, SRA Standards and Regulations, the UK Bribery Act 2010, and laws relating to market abuse and insider trading.

• Handle risk and compliance queries and initiatives across the business.
• Support risk management efforts and firm-wide projects as appropriate.
• Report to Head of Legal & Regulatory Risk and contribute to policy development.

Team Structure

The Firm is looking to develop its Legal & Regulatory Risk team. The team provides risk management support to the Firm (including each of its international offices) to ensure that it, along with its partners and employees, adhere to the legal and regulatory frameworks within which they operate. The role will report to the Head of Legal & Regulatory Risk.

You will deal with a diverse range of risk and compliance related queries and initiatives from across the business, both on a day-to-day basis and in relation to risk management and firm wide projects as appropriate.

If you are a qualified solicitor with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience working in the internal risk or general counsel department of a global or City law firm, we encourage you to apply. You should have proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts, as well as a strong working knowledge of relevant statutory and regulatory regimes, including the UK GDPR, SRA Standards and Regulations, the UK Bribery Act 2010, and laws relating to market abuse and insider trading.
