Job summary

GI Group Main Account is seeking an experienced RF or Wireless Test Engineer to join our engineering team in the UK. You will work across radar systems, Emergency Radio Beacons, AIS and other marine communications products, using spectrum analysers, network analysers and other RF test equipment to verify performance.

You will document results in detailed reports, ensure regulatory and customer specifications are met, and collaborate with project managers.

Qualifications

• Experience in RF, wireless or electronics testing.
• Strong practical experience with RF test equipment.
• Level 3 Electrical/Electronic Engineering qualification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Test radar systems and Emergency Radio Beacons to COSPAS-SARSAT, RTCM, IEC and EN standards.
• Perform RF testing in chambers and laboratories.
• Test AIS and marine comms products using protocols and interfaces.
• Record results and produce detailed technical test reports.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, customer, and internal requirements.
• Travel for off-site testing when required.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced RF or Wireless Test Engineer to join the engineering team of a leading specialist testing and certification organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in RF, wireless or electronics testing to work across a varied range of products, including radar systems, Emergency Radio Beacons, AIS and digital interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out testing of radar systems and Emergency Radio Beacons in accordance with relevant COSPAS-SARSAT, RTCM, IEC and EN standards.
• Undertake testing within RF chambers and radio test laboratories.
• Test AIS and marine communications products using protocol and digital interface techniques.
• Operate a range of RF test equipment, including spectrum analysers, network analysers, oscilloscopes, signal generators and RF power meters.
• Accurately record test results using electronic logbooks and produce detailed technical test reports.
• Ensure all testing complies with regulatory requirements, customer specifications and internal quality procedures.
• Assist with the development of customer test plans and provide technical support where required.
• Liaise with project managers and customers to ensure testing is completed accurately and on schedule.
• Work independently, take ownership of test activities and resolve technical issues.
• Undertake occasional off-site testing.
• Previous experience in an RF, Wireless or Electronics Test Engineering role.
• Strong practical experience using RF test equipment.
• Level 3 qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
• Good understanding of engineering testing procedures and standards.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical activities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical reporting skills.
• Knowledge of COSPAS-SARSAT, RTCM, IEC and EN standards.
• Experience within an RF-accredited testing environment.
• Knowledge of emergency beacon functionality and certification.
• Experience with radar, AIS or marine communications products.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required.
• Flexibility to work shifts where required.
