Job summary

Gi Group Holdings Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Senior RF & Wireless Test Engineer to join its engineering team in Fareham. The role covers testing radar systems, Emergency Radio Beacons, AIS and marine communications, using RF chambers and a range of RF test equipment.

You will produce detailed test reports and ensure regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will have RF/Wireless testing experience, hands-on equipment skills, and a Level 3 Electrical/Electronic

Qualifications

• Experience in RF/Wireless or Electronics test engineering.
• Hands-on use of RF test equipment.
• Level 3 Electrical/Electronic Eng qualification or equivalent experience.
• Understanding of testing procedures and standards.
• Ability to work independently and report findings.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Test radar systems and Emergency Radio Beacons per COSPAS-SARSAT, RTCM, IEC, EN.
• Test in RF chambers and radio test labs.
• Test AIS and marine comms products.
• Operate spectrum analysers, VNAs, oscilloscopes, signal generators, RF meters.
• Document test results and write detailed reports.
• Ensure compliance with regs, specs, and internal procedures.
• Support test plans and customer requirements.
• Coordinate with project managers and customers to meet schedules.
• Work independently and travel for off-site testing.

Senior RF & Wireless Test Engineer

Location: Fareham

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced RF or Wireless Test Engineer to join the engineering team of a leading specialist testing and certification organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in RF, wireless or electronics testing to work across a varied range of products, including radar systems, Emergency Radio Beacons, AIS and digital interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out testing of radar systems and Emergency Radio Beacons in accordance with relevant COSPAS-SARSAT, RTCM, IEC and EN standards.
• Undertake testing within RF chambers and radio test laboratories.
• Test AIS and marine communications products using protocol and digital interface techniques.
• Operate a range of RF test equipment, including spectrum analysers, network analysers, oscilloscopes, signal generators and RF power meters.
• Accurately record test results using electronic logbooks and produce detailed technical test reports.
• Ensure all testing complies with regulatory requirements, customer specifications and internal quality procedures.
• Assist with the development of customer test plans and provide technical support where required.
• Liaise with project managers and customers to ensure testing is completed accurately and on schedule.
• Work independently, take ownership of test activities and resolve technical issues.
• Undertake occasional off-site testing.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in an RF, Wireless or Electronics Test Engineering role.
• Strong practical experience using RF test equipment.
• Level 3 qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
• Good understanding of engineering testing procedures and standards.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical activities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical reporting skills.

Desirable Experience

• Knowledge of COSPAS-SARSAT, RTCM, IEC and EN standards.
• Experience within an RF-accredited testing environment.
• Knowledge of emergency beacon functionality and certification.
• Experience with radar, AIS or marine communications products.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required.
• Flexibility to work shifts where required.
