About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Reservoir Engineer to join an established subsurface team in Aberdeen, supporting a portfolio of producing assets across the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS).
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong and commercially aware reservoir engineering professional to take a leading role in reservoir management, production optimisation and field development activities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for integrating reservoir and production data, developing simulation models and identifying opportunities to maximise recovery, optimise asset performance and deliver long-term value.
Working closely with multidisciplinary teams across Subsurface, Wells, Operations and Commercial, you will provide technical expertise, assurance and recommendations to support both operational and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead reservoir engineering activities across producing UKCS assets, ensuring effective reservoir management and field optimisation.
- Build, maintain, update and interpret dynamic reservoir simulation models to support reservoir performance analysis, production forecasting and opportunity identification.
- Analyse reservoir and production data to identify opportunities to improve recovery, optimise production and maximise asset value.
- Develop production forecasts, assess reservoir performance and evaluate uncertainties associated with field development and reservoir management decisions.
- Provide reservoir engineering input into field development planning, production enhancement initiatives and future investment opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with Geoscience, Wells, Production Engineering, Operations and Commercial teams to deliver integrated subsurface solutions.
- Provide technical assurance of reservoir engineering studies, models, forecasts and recommendations.
- Communicate technical findings, risks, uncertainties and development opportunities clearly to senior management, joint venture partners and regulatory stakeholders.
- Support reservoir management strategies that balance technical performance, operational considerations and commercial objectives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and the development of reservoir engineering best practices.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
- Extensive experience in reservoir engineering within the upstream oil and gas industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of reservoir simulation, dynamic modelling and reservoir performance evaluation.
- Experience using industry-standard reservoir engineering software, particularly Eclipse, Petroleum Experts and Harmony.
- Ability to manage complex, integrated subsurface workflows and deliver technically robust recommendations.
- Strong understanding of reservoir behaviour, recovery mechanisms, uncertainty management and field development economics.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and technical reporting capabilities.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrable experience collaborating across multidisciplinary technical and operational teams.
- Previous reservoir engineering experience supporting mature, producing UKCS oil and gas assets.
- Experience evaluating production enhancement and incremental recovery opportunities.
- Involvement in field development planning, reservoir management strategies and investment decision support.
- Experience presenting technical studies and recommendations to senior management, joint venture partners or regulatory bodies.
- Demonstrated commercial awareness and the ability to identify technically achievable, value-adding opportunities.
About You
We are looking for a proactive, technically capable and collaborative Senior Reservoir Engineer who can combine strong analytical expertise with sound commercial judgement.
You will be comfortable taking ownership of complex reservoir engineering activities, challenging technical assumptions and influencing decisions through clear, evidence-based recommendations.
The ability to build strong working relationships, communicate effectively across disciplines and contribute positively to a high-performing subsurface team will be essential.
