Job summary

The Actuary, a leading insurer, seeks a senior actuary with strong non-life reserving experience to join its European reserving team. This role emphasizes the commercial and stakeholder-facing side of reserving, owning portfolios, peer-reviewing colleagues' work, and communicating conclusions to senior managers.

You will regularly present to committees, collaborating with Finance, Claims, Pricing, Risk and Underwriting.

Qualifications

• Qualified actuary with strong non-life reserving experience.
• Comfortable reviewing others' work and challenging conclusions.
• Able to present technical information to senior and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with transformation projects helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

Job description

We're working with a leading international insurer on a senior hire within their European reserving team.

This is a particularly attractive opportunity for someone who enjoys the commercial and stakeholder-facing side of reserving. Rather than spending all of your time producing analysis, you'll take ownership of portfolios, peer-review work completed by actuaries and analysts, and be responsible for communicating the conclusions to senior stakeholders.

You'll regularly present into committees and work closely with Finance, Claims, Pricing, Risk and Underwriting, giving you much broader exposure than you would get in a purely technical reserving position.

The team covers a sizeable international portfolio with exposure to a wide range of non-life classes. There are also opportunities to get involved in projects around reserving systems, process improvement and wider actuarial transformation.

We're looking for a qualified actuary with strong non-life reserving experience who is comfortable reviewing others' work, challenging conclusions and presenting technical information to senior and non-technical audiences.

Some transformation experience would be useful but isn't essential.
