Job summary

Arthur, a leading global insurance business in London, seeks an experienced Reserving Actuary to join the actuarial leadership team and progress toward Head of Reserving. The role combines technical reserving with leadership and strategic input across complex portfolios.

You will oversee quarterly reserving, review reserve adequacy, support IFRS 17 and UK GAAP, present insights to committees, and develop the reserving team while partnering with underwriting, claims, finance and risk.

Qualifications

• Qualified Actuary with London Market reserving experience.

A leading global insurance business is seeking an experienced Reserving Actuary to join its London actuarial leadership team with succession to a Head of role in the short-medium term. This is an excellent opportunity for an established Reserving Manager or Senior Reserving Actuary looking to take on broader responsibility, gain greater exposure to senior stakeholders and play a key role in shaping reserving strategy across a complex London Market portfolio.Reporting to the Head of Reserving, you will oversee the reserving process across multiple classes of business whilst acting as a key partner to underwriting, claims, finance and risk teams. The role combines technical reserving expertise with leadership, stakeholder engagement and strategic input into business planning and portfolio management. You'll have responsibility for driving reserving best practice, leading reserving investigations and supporting critical business decisions through high-quality actuarial insight.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the quarterly reserving process.
• Review reserve adequacy and provide recommendations to senior management.
• Support UK GAAP, Solvency UK and IFRS 17 reserving requirements.
• Present reserving outcomes and key insights to senior committees.
• Lead reserving input into planning and forecasting exercises.
• Deliver reserve reviews, deep dives and strategic projects.
• Partner with underwriting and claims teams on portfolio performance.
• Manage and develop members of the reserving team.
• Drive process improvement, automation and reserving innovation.

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Actuary (or equivalent experience).
• Extensive London Market reserving experience.
• Strong understanding of UK GAAP, Solvency UK and IFRS 17.
• Previous team leadership or people management experience.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong commercial mindset and actuarial judgement.
• Knowledge of Python, R or SQL beneficial.
