Job summary

Newcastle University invites applications for a Senior Research Associate in Vehicle-Grid Integration Modelling. Based in Newcastle, this fixed-term, full-time role forms part of Project SUITE, building on Nissan's V2G ML model to forecast EV flexible capacity for UK energy grid.

The post holder will lead technical contributions and assist with coordinating Newcastle’s wider involvement in the project, working with industry and academia.

Qualifications

• Honours degree in engineering, computing science or related areas.
• PhD in power systems analytics, modelling of transport-energy interactions or similar.
• Experience of using and developing machine learning algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate technical and management activities related to Newcastle University's contributions to the project.
• Lead the team on larger/more complex research projects or as an individual researcher in their field.
• Contribute ideas and enhancements to technical or methodological aspects of the project.
• Determine appropriate research methodologies.
• Assess findings for scope of further investigations.
• Contribute to writing, dissemination through seminars, conferences or publications.
• Present research findings at conferences or in high-quality outlets.
• Contribute to grant applications and develop research objectives for funding.
