Job summary

King’s Digital Lab (KDL) seeks a Senior Research Software Engineer to develop high-quality code supporting product specifications in collaboration with research leads and the wider RSE team.

You will apply advanced expertise in web development stacks and contribute to data pipelines, web apps, and research solutions while expanding skills across disciplines in a flexible hybrid setting.

Qualifications

• Expertise with modern web development stacks (e.g. JavaScript/TypeScript/Python, HTML/CSS, Node.js/Django, containerisation, CI/CD pipelines).
• Advanced proficiency in making well-reasoned, complex technical decisions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills enabling technical direction within a project.
• Excellent collaboration, leadership and communication skills in a fast-paced team.
• Inclusive approach and ability to guide/mentor others.
• Skills in data modelling for database design for research applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality code to support product specifications with research leads and the RSE team.
• Produce research solutions from data pipelines to web applications across domains.
• Contribute to e-Research capability within the Lab and Faculty.
• Plan and influence research solutions with awareness of best practices and ethics.
• Collaborate across multiple disciplines and farming external funding opportunities.
