Job summary

Tate Recruitment is seeking a Senior Research Infrastructure Engineer to lead delivery of advanced research computing services at a prominent research-led organisation. The role blends hands-on technical work with leadership, shaping future platforms and supporting AI and data-intensive projects.

You will work closely with researchers, technical teams and senior stakeholders to design scalable solutions, drive infrastructure strategy and mentor teams in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in complex technical environments within research, academia, or industry.
• Ability to lead technical projects or workstreams with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong communication of complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proven expertise in designing and operating scalable research infrastructure.
• Background in AI/ML or data-intensive computing is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain large-scale research computing infrastructure.
• Support HPC, AI and data-intensive workloads.
• Manage enterprise storage and services.
• Lead investigations of complex technical issues.
• Collaborate with researchers to translate requirements into solutions.
• Contribute to roadmaps and platform development.
• Lead small project teams when needed.
• Produce technical documentation and training materials.
• Work with internal teams and external partners.
• Contribute to research or grant funding initiatives.
