Job description

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 22 months in the first instance.Applications are invited for a senior post-doctoral research associate to join the group of Prof. Alexander Forse at the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cambridge.Essential requirement: candidates must have (or be about to obtain) a PhD in solid-state NMR spectroscopy, and at least 3 years post-doc experience (or equivalent in industry) in NMR spectroscopy. Please detail in your cover letter how you experience matches the responsibilities of this role:leading/managing the NMR facility in the Forse Groupindependently developing new magnetic resonance approaches to study materials for climate change mitigationleading on student training and development in magnetic resonance, and co-supervising PhD studentssupporting research proposal developmentThis project is part of an ERC starting grant (funded by UKRI) which seeks to understand and improve supercapacitor devices for energy storage, with a focus on using solid-state NMR techniques to gain structural insights. Research more generally in the Forse group centers around the development of new materials for climate change mitigation. The successful applicant will benefit from access to 400 and 600 MHz NMR spectrometers (Bruker), potentiostats for electrochemistry measurements, gas sorption instruments, and diffraction resources, as required for this project. Please ensure that you upload your Curriculum Vitae (CV), a covering letter and publications list in the upload section of the online application. If you upload any additional documents that have not been requested, we will not be able to consider these as part of your application. For informal enquiries, please contact Professor A Forse - acf50@cam.ac.ukPlease quote reference MA51550 on your application and in any correspondence about this vacancy. The School of Physical Sciences holds an Athena Swan Silver Award which recognises and supports progress in gender equality. The University actively supports equality, diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from all sections of society. The University has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.Apply online
