The University of Cambridge invites applications for a Senior Post-doctoral Research Associate in the Department of Chemistry under Prof. Alexander Forse.
The project focuses on solid-state NMR to study materials for climate change mitigation and energy storage, with access to 400 and 600 MHz Bruker spectrometers and related instruments. You will lead the NMR facility in the Forse Group, supervise PhD students, contribute to grant proposals, and help develop new magnetic resonance approaches.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 22 months in the first instance.
Applications are invited for a senior post-doctoral research associate to join the group of Prof. Alexander Forse at the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cambridge.
Essential requirement: candidates must have (or be about to obtain) a PhD in solid-state NMR spectroscopy, and at least 3 years post-doc experience (or equivalent in industry) in NMR spectroscopy.
Please detail in your cover letter how your experience matches the responsibilities of this role:
This project is part of an ERC starting grant (funded by UKRI) which seeks to understand and improve supercapacitor devices for energy storage, with a focus on using solid-state NMR techniques to gain structural insights. Research more generally in the Forse group centers around the development of new materials for climate change mitigation.
The successful applicant will benefit from access to 400 and 600 MHz NMR spectrometers (Bruker), potentiostats for electrochemistry measurements, gas sorption instruments, and diffraction resources, as required for this project.
