Job summary

Sulis Hospital Bath is recruiting a Senior Registered Nurse for Recovery and EPOC to support post-operative patients. You will work as an ITU/HDU skilled nurse within the recovery team, delivering high-level care and contributing to peri-operative pathways.

The role requires recent HDU/ICU experience, planning and evaluating patient care, and flexible shifts including nights. DBS clearance and ongoing CPD are expected.

Qualifications

• NMC registration at RN level.
• Recent, substantive experience in HDU/ICU critical care.
• Proficient in airway management and invasive monitoring.
• Experience interpreting blood gases and deterioration scoring.

Senior Registered Nurse Recovery and EPOC

Sulis Hospital Bath has an opportunity for a Senior Registered Nurse to join our small and supportive Enhanced Perioperative Operational Recovery department to support our post-operative patients.As a Registered ITU/HDU skilled Nurse within our recovery team, youll be an integral part of our healthcare team and work as an expert member of the nursing team to assist in high level of care for patients.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will deliver exceptional nursing care within the Recovery Unit and in our EPOC area, with a specific focus on supporting the complete peri-operative journey of high-acuity patients.Due to the clinical complexity of these individuals, recent experience within an HDU or ICU environment is essential.This requires planning, assessment, implementation and evaluation of patients condition and care following agreed care pathways. You will be confident in responding to changes in condition, proposing/making changes to care plan as required to assist with the provision of an environment conductive to clinical excellence. This role will cover night and day shifts and is supported by a Resident Medical Officer and a Senior Resident Medical Officer.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• NMC professional registration at Registered Nurse level 1.
• Minimum of 12 years of recent, substantive experience in a Level 2 (HDU) or Level 3 (ICU/ITU) critical care setting.
• Strong working knowledge of critical care workflows and the ability to seamlessly apply ICU-level interventions within a peri-operative recovery environment.
• Proficient in advanced airway management, invasive line monitoring, blood gas interpretation, and acute physiological deterioration scoring.
• An awareness of research and evidence-based practice in the clinical setting
• Airway management is essential
• Clear understanding of pain and pain control
• Proven ability to anticipate, identify, and manage rapid physiological deterioration in complex surgical patients
• Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
• Intravenous Therapy Skills
• Interest & academic ability to undertake further training within a particular specialty.
• IT skills and experience in the use of computers
• Masters degree or higher level education certification.
• ALS or ILS trained.
