Job description

Senior Registered Mental Health Nurse (6594) Romford, England

Salary: GBP40455 per annum

An exciting new job opportunity has arisen for a committed Senior Registered Mental Health Nurse to work in an exceptional mental health hospital based in the Romford, Essex area. You will be working for one of the UK's leading healthcare providers.

This service helps patients rebuild confidence, self-esteem, and hope for the future. Care is provided over two wards, offering an age-appropriate environment for those with mental health/personality disorders and/or mild to moderate dementia requiring physical health care.

To be considered for this position, you must be qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse with a current active NMC Pin.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Providing high standards of care to individuals with mental illness and personality disorders.
  2. Developing therapeutic relationships to optimise patient engagement.
  3. Adhering to all codes of conduct, standards, and legislation, respecting rights and promoting ethical practice.
  4. Contributing to patient assessments, care planning, and monitoring progress.
  5. Leading shifts, mentoring, and supporting student nurses and team members.

Preferred skills and experience:

  1. At least 2 years of experience in mental health services.
  2. Evidence of post-registration professional development.
  3. A positive attitude and commitment to quality improvement.
  4. Excellent communication skills.
  5. Knowledge of NMC standards and guidelines.
  6. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice.

The successful candidate will receive an annual salary of £40,455 DOE. This is a permanent full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week, with benefits including:
