Job summary

We are currently looking for enthusiastic and dynamic fellows to join us and further their career through our Anaesthesia and Critical Care Fellowships at Southend Hospital.

You will have the opportunity to work across all specialties and will act as out-of-hours cover for theatre, Obstetrics, and ICU at a middle-grade tier level. The duties include doing a full shift on a 1:8 on-call rota covering any of the 4 tiers. The rota is fully compliant with national medical workforce guidance, and the banding is 1A.

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited for a trust Clinical Fellow post in Anaesthesia and Critical Care. Clinical supervision is shared among all consultants, and you will be provided with a dedicated educational supervisor. The successful applicant will work towards competencies, participate in departmental meetings, simulation, audit, quality improvement projects, and clinical governance.

The post will be tailored to your educational needs with opportunities to develop clinical skills and mentoring. You will gain experience in:

• Perioperative Medicine
• Education and Simulation
• General Anaesthesia
• Regional Anaesthesia
• Resuscitation and Transfer
• Pain
• Intensive Care Medicine

These are fixed-term appointments for 12 months, with potential for extension by mutual agreement.

Qualifications

• Essential: MBBS or equivalent qualification
• Desirable: FRCA

Eligibility

• Essential: Eligible for full GMC registration at the time of appointment; evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competencies in anaesthetics and likelihood of achieving ST2/CT2 competencies by the start date.

Clinical skills

• Essential: Minimum of two years of specialty experience; NHS experience
• Desirable: Life support courses
