Job description

Closing date: 22 November 2026

Do you want to play a central role in delivering an ambitious programme of regeneration projects that will make a real difference to people’s lives?

Does working in the beautiful county of Derbyshire capture your imagination and present opportunities for personal and professional growth?

If so, this role could be the one for you. We are also currently advertising a similar role alongside this vacancy.

Our projects include but are not limited to major highway and sustainable transport schemes, public realm improvements in town centres and construction of commercial units in geographies across the whole of Derbyshire.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Regeneration Delivery Officer to co-ordinate the management and monitoring of a diverse range of feasibility projects and capital schemes within the Economy & Regeneration Service. The role will provide programme management insight and professional challenge across a range of complex, major and other Regeneration projects (both capital and revenue), helping ensure the timely delivery of schemes to support quality placemaking, economic growth and positive outcomes for Derbyshire’s residents and businesses.

This role is initially for a fixed term of two years, with the potential to extend subject to funding.

About The Role

As Senior Regeneration Delivery Officer, you will support the delivery of the Regeneration Programme, ensuring reporting is provided in a consistent and timely manner to departmental and corporate programme management forums. You will work with senior stakeholders, external funding bodies, elected members and partners to enable transformational outcomes for Derbyshire communities.

You will:
  • Support the delivery of the Regeneration programme, coordinating activities and commissioning specialist services where required.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with external partners to develop the Regeneration pipeline of work into a programme of associated projects.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, partnerships, boards and working groups
  • Support the development and implementation of delivery agreements with partners.
  • Prepare and present programme progress reports, performance updates and analysis to senior managers, governance boards and elected members
  • Maintain programme governance records, ensuring required approvals are in place at all stages, alongside accurate records of programme budgets, expenditure, procurement activity and financial performance, escalating issues as required.
  • Ensure programme and project activities are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, technical standards, health and safety requirements and environmental obligations, supporting sustainability and equality objectives.
  • Manage and develop staff responsible for programme monitoring, coordination, reporting and business case support activities.
  • Support the identification and pursuit of funding opportunities and assist in the preparation of funding bids and associated documentation.
  • Support the establishment and administration of funding agreements, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and conditions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and lessons learned reviews, supporting the sharing of good practice to improve future delivery.
We're looking for someone with:
  • Significant experience of working in a large complex organisation or similar public sector environment, delivering transformational change projects and initiatives, while managing and mitigating against risk.
  • A strong track record of achieving results through inter-departmental working, partnership working and working with key stakeholders from outside bodies and organisations.
  • Significant budget management experience.
  • Demonstrable experience of staff supervision, planning workloads, establishing priorities within timescales and budgets.
  • Experience in managing projects or programmes using established tools and techniques such as PRINCE2 or MSP.
  • The ability to undertake a range of complex qualitative and quantitative research and or consultation projects.
  • Good communication skills to support effective engagement with Public, Elected Members, other departments and external agencies.
  • Degree-level education or an equivalent professional qualification, supported by substantial post-qualification experience.
What we offer you?
  • 27 days of annual leave, plus an additional 5 days with 5 years of continuous service
  • Flexi time, allowing flexible working hours and up to an additional 2 days of leave per month
  • Generous local government pension scheme
  • Cycle to work & Electric/Hybrid vehicle salary sacrifice scheme
  • A supportive working environment
  • Commitment and investment in your continuing professional development
  • Fantastic discounts though Our Derbyshire Rewards
  • And much more!
