Job summary

Second Step in Bath and the Southwest is recruiting a Senior Recovery Navigator to lead a team of Recovery Navigators within the Access Community Mental Health Team. The role focuses on helping clients with moderate to severe mental health needs connect to community resources, build resilience and achieve personal recovery goals.

• Support Recovery Navigators in risk management, safeguarding and incident handling.
• Promote recovery, inclusion and equity in all activities.

Second Step is a leading mental health charity supporting people across Bristol and the Southwest. We provide innovative, trauma-informed support to people experiencing complex needs, including mental health difficulties, homelessness, substance misuse and contact with the criminal justice system. Our services are built around recovery, choice and co-production, putting people at the heart of everything we do.

We are recruiting a Senior Recovery Navigator to join our Access Community Mental Health Team in BaNES (with the office in Bath) to manage Recovery Navigators to enable them to work collaboratively with the client, GP, and other health and care professionals to ensure people with moderate-serious mental health needs are supported to connect to their community, to build resilience and to improve their wellbeing. To hold a caseload of clients, helping them set and achieve personal recovery goals and connect to meaningful support within their community.

As part of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Partnership in Bath and Northeast Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW), Second Step delivers community mental health support in collaboration with Alabaré, Missing Link and Nilaari. Together, we're transforming mental health services by focusing on trauma-informed, person-centered, and culturally inclusive approaches.

About you

You will:

• Manage a team of Recovery Navigators, providing 1:1s, supervisions, and developing Personal Development Plans in line with Second Step’s policies and procedures.
• Screen referrals and carry out support conversations (if appropriate) to ascertain the best support route/service for the client; completing relevant paperwork on electronic systems and carrying out follow up calls.
• Attend and contribute in a positive and proactive way to daily handovers and Multi-Disciplinary Discussions, as well as building collaborative relationships with external stakeholders.
• Case manage and co-ordinate support, referring and liaising effectively with all professionals, agencies and other parties involved in a client’s support.
• Supporting Recovery Navigators in the effective management of risk by providing guidance and oversight on escalated concerns, including safeguarding matters and incident management.
• Promote recovery, inclusion, and equity in everything you do.

You'll need:

• At least two years recent experience of working with people with moderate to severe mental health needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Effective liaison skills through experience of working in a team and with a range of Mental Health support providers.
• Ability to manage caseloads, work flexibly, and build effective multi-agency partnerships.
• Confidence in IT systems and record-keeping.
• A deep understanding of recovery and trauma-informed practice.
