Here’s what you’ll do:
We are looking to enhance and grow our Electrification & Power team with a Senior Rail Traction Power / Substation Engineer.
You will have delivered rail projects to client satisfaction at the appropriate standard, ensuring accuracy of drawings and calculations, and that designs are cost-effective, constructable and compliant with relevant codes and standards.
You will join a growing team delivering traction power and substation projects across the UK, with opportunities to support international projects. Our work spans the full project lifecycle from feasibility studies and outline design through to detailed design and construction support.
You will take responsibility for technical delivery across key projects, operating at Independent Checker level and supporting the development of engineers within the team.
Provide Expertise
Be responsible for technical oversight and delivery of design packages across multiple project stages. Contribute to the continued development of traction power and substation capability within the Electrification & Power team.
Collaborate
Receive briefs from the Project Manager and coordinate technical delivery across the project team. Provide guidance and support to designers, early careers and junior engineers. Liaise with clients and stakeholders as required.
Ensure Quality
Develop concept and detailed design documentation including calculations, reports and specifications. Undertake independent technical checks of calculations, drawings and reports to ensure compliance with relevant standards and project requirements. Review and provide technical guidance on design outputs produced by others.
Anticipate
Undertake site visits and surveys to gather information to inform design development. Develop and review project specifications for construction and provide construction stage design support where required. Attend site during the construction phase if necessary to ensure works are delivered in accordance with design intent. You will have a strong understanding of Health & Safety and CDM requirements.
