Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Rail Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance team in the UK offices. You will lead safety-related systems engineering for rail projects, developing definitions, requirements and architectures, and supporting clients with robust technical solutions.

You should have an engineering degree, Chartered status, and a proven track record in railway safety, interoperability and UK health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience of railway systems safety and assurance, including system safety and interoperability.
  • Knowledge of UK Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop System Engineering plans and processes and undertake the development of system definitions, technical requirements and system architectures.
  • Manage technical requirements using appropriate techniques and tools (e.g. DOORS, ComplyPro) and develop and deliver systems engineering processes to support customer requirements.
  • Evaluate the interrelationship of system requirements and aspects of system design and development requirements. Develop scope of works and work packages with clients and serve as the senior technical resource for the team or project.
  • Provide specialized technical input to studies and design for staff’s specific area of expertise. Develop study and design procedures to facilitate high‑quality, cost‑effective work by others.
  • Participate in multi‑disciplinary review of project deliverables; develop cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects; perform quality control review of design calculations or drawings; prepare technical specification sections; and provide input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.

Job Description

We are currently searching for a Senior Rail Systems Engineer to join us here at AECOM in one of our offices in the UK and focus on rail projects as part of the Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance team.

AECOM holds extensive knowledge in planning, designing and managing transportation systems – and restoring and replacing aging infrastructure – to help our public and private clients find smarter, more advanced ways to move people across cities, countries and continents.

Ideally, you are an established railway systems safety professional and have experience leading a team of safety engineering professionals.
