Job summary

Hitachi Rail GTS UK Limited is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of major, complex projects. This strategic role drives performance, safety, and quality, delivering on time and within budget across multiple teams.

The position is hybrid, offering home and office flexibility. Regular travel to customer sites in Sheffield and Manchester is required to support project delivery and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience delivering large, high-value projects.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
• Strong commercial, financial, and business acumen.
• Experience with governance, planning, scheduling, risk, and change control.
• Ability to analyse project performance and cost variances.
• Experience across engineering, finance, commercial, supply chain, and operations.
• Ability to coach and develop project management talent.

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for project delivery performance against time, cost, and quality.
• Provide leadership to multidisciplinary project leadership teams.
• Ensure projects align with governance and control processes.
• Manage risks, opportunities, change control, resource planning, and stakeholder engagement.
• Support commercial performance across project portfolios.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal functions.
• Provide coaching and development support to less experienced Project Managers.
• Present clear project performance information to senior leaders.
