Job summary

Amey seeks a Principal Project Manager to lead major rail projects in London with a hybrid working pattern (37.5 hours, in-office 4 days).You will drive delivery across multidisciplinary portfolios, ensure governance and safety, and develop Senior PMs to meet Amey’s commercial objectives.

Role involves client engagement with TfL, managing budgets and KPIs, and promoting digital delivery tools across teams. Strong governance and rail experience are valued.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of leading multiple projects or portfolios over £10m.
• Ability to manage full project lifecycle.
• Experience with high risk/safety-critical activities.
• Strong governance, assurance and risk management across portfolios.
• Evidence of delivering commercial success and meeting financial targets.
• Rail and/or tram network experience desirable.
• APM membership or equivalent is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for multiple large projects or portfolios.
• Establish and maintain governance and assurance frameworks across projects.
• Ensure delivery is safe, on time, within budget and to quality.
• Act as a key point of contact for senior client stakeholders.
• Manage commercial performance, budgets, forecasts and KPIs.
• Line manage Senior Project Managers and Project Managers.
• Oversee risk, issue and opportunity management across the portfolio.
• Promote innovation and digital tools within delivery teams.
• Support business development activities, including bids and proposals.
• Embed health, safety, sustainability and wellbeing across teams.
• Ensure knowledge transfer and lessons learned across projects.
