Job summary

Amey is seeking a Permanent Senior Ecologist to join the HSEQ team in a hybrid role (37.5 hours/week) with some weekends and nights expected. You will lead ecological deliverables for surveys and documentation across rail projects, ensuring quality, cost and programme alignment.

You will influence ecology across UK rail infrastructure, supporting ecological risk management, and progressing with professional development through Amey's programmes, including Leadership and Women@Amey.

Qualifications

• Degree in Ecology or environmental topic.
• Full membership of MCIEEM or equivalent.
• Protected species license with a specialism (e.g., bats or great crested newts).
• Experience as ecologist or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Ecological surveys/inspections, clerk of works duties across sites when necessary.
• Develop ecological assurance and governance documentation for deliverables.
• Update governance documentation on the IMS system.
• Gather ecological case studies and develop lessons learned across the rail business.
• Develop ecological processes for all accounts to ensure ecological compliance.
• Provide ecological training via in-person sessions, LearnUpon modules, webinars and toolbox talks.
• Assist with work winning for ecological bids.
• Attend client biodiversity meetings and liaise with client and supplier reps at peer level.
• Attend progress meetings and respond to queries.
