Job summary

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Dosimetrist to support the Dose Planning section and wider Radiotherapy Department. The role is based at Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, and involves designing complex radiotherapy plans and managing your own workload.

You will contribute to training and research projects, with access to an in-house competency-based programme. This is a full-time, permanent band 6 position within NCIC/NCCC planning teams.

Qualifications

• Up-to-date knowledge of medical physics in treatment planning and radiotherapy.
• Strong understanding of 3D anatomy and physiology.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Registration with the HCPC or RCT.
• Experience in Radiotherapy or Medical Physics.

Responsibilities

• Organise own workload to deliver the highly specialist external beam radiotherapy dose planning service.
• Design radiotherapy plans and set treatment parameters.
• Validate treatment data and export for treatment.
• Communicate complex dosimetric information to other staff groups.
• Participate in research and development projects.
• Contribute to training and education of staff and visitors.
