Job summary

Cavendish Nuclear is recruiting a Senior Radiation Protection Consultant to join our specialist team and support defence and civil nuclear projects across the UK. The role is based at one of our locations (Warrington, Newbury, Bristol or Leicester) with hybrid working and 37 hours per week.

You will provide radiation protection advice, lead project activities, mentor junior colleagues and ensure compliance with legislation and site licence requirements across regulated sectors.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience working within a radiation protection role.
• Strong knowledge of radiation protection legislation, standards and best practice.
• Experience supporting projects within the nuclear, defence or highly regulated sectors.
• Knowledge and experience of site licence compliance arrangements.
• Understanding of Office for Nuclear Regulation Safety Assessment Principles and their practical application.

Responsibilities

• Providing radiation protection advice and guidance to projects, ensuring legislative compliance and industry best practice.
• Supporting multidisciplinary engineering and safety teams across design and operational nuclear programmes.
• Producing and coordinating technical radiological protection documentation, including risk assessments, zoning assessments, ALARP assessments and compliance documentation.
• Leading radiation protection activities on projects while mentoring and supporting junior colleagues.
• Participating in hazard identification studies and contributing to the continuous improvement of radiation protection processes and procedures.
