Job summary

Cavendish Nuclear seeks a Senior Radiation Protection Consultant to lead radiological protection on major defence and civil nuclear projects across the UK, with hybrid working from Warrington, Newbury, Bristol or Leicester.

You will provide expert guidance, ensure regulatory compliance, mentor colleagues, and support design and operational programmes while maintaining ALARP and safety standards across diverse projects.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in radiation protection roles.
• Strong knowledge of radiation protection legislation, standards and best practice.
• Experience supporting projects within nuclear, defence or highly regulated sectors.
• Knowledge of site licence compliance arrangements.
• Understanding of ONR Safety Assessment Principles and practical application.

Responsibilities

• Provide radiation protection advice to projects, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Support multidisciplinary engineering and safety teams across design and operational programmes.
• Produce and coordinate radiological protection documentation (risk, zoning, ALARP, compliance).
• Lead radiation protection activities on projects and mentor junior colleagues.
• Participate in hazard identification studies and drive process improvements.
