Job summary

Lanes Group PLC, based in Leyland, is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial management for the UU contract. You will guide day-to-day QS processes, oversee Applications for Payment, WIP, CVR and cost control, and work with the Head of Commercial to drive risk management and governance across multiple workstreams.

The role requires balancing detail with leadership, ensuring commercial performance, alignment with contract requirements and timely cash recovery.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or experienced Quantity Surveyor within utilities, construction, infrastructure, highways, water, wastewater or similar.
• Experience overseeing end-to-end QS processes, including Applications for Payment, WIP, cost control, CVR reporting, forecasting and final account.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a high-volume, fast-paced contract environment.
• Strong understanding of schedule of rates contracts or similar pricing mechanisms.
• Strong cost, value, margin and CVR management experience.
• Experience reviewing commercial submissions, supporting evidence, client queries and payment issues.
• Confident dealing with client representatives, including supporting commercial reviews and resolving queried or disputed items.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence Operations, Finance, Planning, Administration and Commercial teams.

Responsibilities

• Commercial Leadership and Oversight across UU contract.
• Oversee end-to-end QS processes from instruction to final account.
• Review QS outputs, including Applications for Payment, WIP, CVR commentary and client queries.
• Identify commercial risks, recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
• Manage CVR reporting, cost reviews and margin management.
• Support contractual change management and variations.
• Build relationships with client representatives for query resolution and payment progression.
• Coach and develop junior QS team members and promote governance.
